Objectives
The Certificate provides you with:
• Effective and practical business oriented IT skills
• A broad, but secure foundation in the fundamental concepts of computing so that you will be able to make effective and knowledgeable judgments about the use of standard computer systems in business
• The ability to use the most common types of Information Technology hardware and software so that, on completion of the course, you will be able to contribute effective in a typical environment where desktop based IT is used extensively
• Knowledge of the mathematical concepts underlying many computer-related processes and developments and an ability to understand how to apply mathematical skills to common problems
• An understanding of the fundamental concepts of computer programming and the use of databases
Candidates also gain skills in the use of structured programme design techniques and are able to create and use simple databases.
The programme will also provide a foundation in the use English language for candidates preparing to take the International Diploma in Computer Studies. You will also learn how to use and adapt standard business English to suit the specific needs of the fields of computing and I T.

Assessment
All assessments are carried out locally, using the guidelines guidelines provided by NCC Education.
All modules carry an equal weighting and candidates must pass all FIVE modules.

Career Progression
Skills and understanding acquired on this course will support competent computing practice in the workplace in any of the popular desktop computing environments but particular emphasis is placed on Windows.
Potential roles may include Network Assistant or Web Assistant.
Duration
Full-time (approximately six months). The course can also be studied par-time or as individual modules.
